Can opener

In 1810, a British man called Peter Durand acquired a patent for the idea of an air-tight tin can that would make food last longer. However you needed a hammer and chisel to open them. During the American Civil War (1861–65) the first can opener was launched. It flopped and it wasn’t until 1925 that we got a can opener with a jagged wheel that could attach to the lid and open it.
