It's 1943 and Olof Bergkvist takes the day's collection of packages from Clas Ohlson to the post offce in Insjön. It's been two years now since the firm moved to a modern house by the main road. It also houses a small store for direct sales. (Photo: unknown. From the Clas Ohlson corporate archive.)
Paulina Kolm has invented the concrete hook Apponwall, which Clas Ohlson includes in its special selection of “50 smart ones”. These are products that are especially easy to use and make life easier to live.
The company Clas Ohlson was founded in 1918 in Insjön, Sweden, as a mail order firm. Articles that initially only could be ordered via our catalogue are, since the late 1980s, available in all our stores and, since the mid-1990s, also online. When we celebrate our centennial in 2018, we do it with customers in five markets, almost 5,000 co-workers, and a turnover of around 8 billion Swedish kronor. We are a listed company on Nasdaq Stockholm. Much has happened since our first days but one thing has remained the same: our determination to help and inspire people to improve their daily lives every day, by offering smart, simple, practical solutions at attractive prices.
